The idea of hosting retreats at Three Graces Farm has been out there since this all began, now two years ago. So when the request came a few months ago for a small group of women to gather here for a weekend of fellowship and renewal, we decided to have a go and see what the whole concept might look like in practice.
It was a great beginning. We had a wonderful fall weekend, full of fun, food and fabulous weather–and at the same time got a hands-on experience of logistics. Moving forward into the not-too-distant future, these gatherings can be fine tuned for all sorts of interests. We have hiking, gardening, baking, cooking (traditional food preparation), art activities, yoga and “earthing” therapy. (This is a good one, see previous blog for photo!) The area abounds with art studios (Countryside Artisans Studio Tour three times per year), wineries, organic and pick your own farms, biking and horseback riding–and all of this with a forty-five minute drive of Washington, DC. There is so much potential here– and I’d love to hear any of your ideas in the comments below. In the meantime, enjoy these highlights from our first retreat, entitled Open Up–A Retreat for Embracing the New, with great photography by retreat participants Lynn Felton (LF) and Lynn Bryant (LB).
